English

In English we seek to investigate God’s world through exploring a variety of texts.

I love the English language and all of its complexities and delights. Whether we are striving to understand the playfulness of man in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream or learning the need to logically piece together an argument for an essay or how poets create feeling and mood in their literary art.

In English we recognise that words are not neutral and a simple ‘no’ is infused with connotation and meaning depending on context. ‘No!’ can be angry, it can be rude, bewildered, hurtful, pleading and loving! This is the wonder and horror of English.
